Welcome to Zibby's Birds

Zibby's Birds is located in the Northern Chicago Suburbs and has been breeding birds for many years. The focus is on breeding canaries because of their beauty and peaceful song. Most people think of a canary as a small, yellow  singing bird; like TWEETY on the cartoons. Well actually, more like those found in pet stores everywhere.

I, on the other hand, am interested in breeding types of canaries that most people do not even know exist.

The Norwich Canary, Parisian Canary, and the Red Factor Canary

Below are my birds as an example of each:

Red Factor

I created Zibbys Birds web site to help those looking for interesting canaries. It seems that the natural progression is that once you get a REGULAR canary then your out to find that special one.

There is still some privately owned pet shops that have quality canaries but they are slowly diminishing, replaced by large chains. Therefore the search begins in local newspapers, bird shows, breeders, and web sites. Unfortunately in most of these you need to drive somewhere and usually still not get the bird you wanted. Breeders on the web sites are usually out of town and do not have pictures making it difficult to find that particular bird that you would like. Its like art, first you need to see it. Especially in breeding TYPE CANARIES where the color, stance, feathering and build is important. The song is just a wonderful bonus.

The canaries that I am selling are on my FOR SALE page, where I have their pictures posted. What you see is what you get.

My canaries are housed in large cages. I built a VIP cabinet to enclose the cages. They are in the sun room which is also my sons play room. They adjust to the activity and feel comfortable to sing while there is activity all around them.

I have imported most of my breeder stock. The Norwich Canaries are from an International Judge and the Parisian Frill Canaries are from a show winning breeder. I imported my breeder stock in order to begin with a new bloodline. Most of the rare canaries in the United States came from a small group.

My birds are not a profit center for me they are a passion.
